BYU vs. Florida State Prep

Well, I don't think there's been this much excitement among the Brethren of the Church since the announcement of polygamy. BYU may, once again, have a shot at a national football title. Watching ESPN the past two weekends has been surreal with all of the BYU-praising going on. They're even talking frequently of a potential Heisman trophy bid for Max Hall.

Of course, there are a dozen games left in the season, and painful past experience has certainly taught that the chances for BYU's success usually diminish relative to the overall buildup of expectations and hopes of the faithful.

Count me among the optimistic - at least until the first loss!

  1. Having spent my formative years in Tallahassee attending many FSU games, and given my general dislike for all (most) things Provo, I have two words...GO NOLES!!!!

I'm sure someone will call me to repentance over this one. Is this one of those sins I can keep between myself and the Lord or should I schedule another meeting with you Bishop?

  2. Um, does Max Hall actually *look* before throwing a pass? Holy crap! Yesterday was the most BYU football I've watched for a while and they looked craptastic! Talk about a paper tiger defense. FSU punted, what? Once? (Twice, maybe, I didn't watch the whole game.)

Attending BYU with Steve and Jim really spoiled me. When did BYU start playing such mediocre quarterbacks?

  3. Wow. What a let-down. And in such a big game. Didn't see that one coming.

  4. Prescient post, Bishop. At least the Cougs didn't string our hopes out for very long.

  5. Pat - Well said. Usually we have to wait for the Bowl game for such disappointment. This way, I'm able to clear my Saturdays for three months. Wahoo!
